About Us
Who are we?
The St. Augustine Wellston Center is an independent 501(c)(3) organization working to confront and alleviate food insecurity in the Wellston community. We believe every person possesses inherent dignity and worth, and that access to healthy, reliable food is a basic human need—not a privilege.
We see our work as an act of justice, not charity, as we have since our founding by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. They believed communities deserve institutions they can rely on—places rooted in dignity, stability, and care.

How do we serve?
Families who qualify may visit the Wellston Center once per month. Through our Food Pantry, we provide 5–7 days of healthy food per person in each household. Families may receive this food provision once per month.

Unlike many pantries, we purchase most of the food we distribute to ensure it is fresh, nutritious, and consistently available for the families who rely on us. Our menu typically includes milk, eggs, frozen meats and fish, fresh and packaged produce, pasta, rice, beans, soups, bread, cereal, and other pantry staples.

In addition to the pantry, the Wellston Center operates a Thrift Store, where families can purchase quality clothing and household goods at very low cost—helping stretch household budgets.

Who qualifies?
The St. Augustine Wellston Center serves thousands of households every year from the 63112, 63133, 63121, and 63120 ZIP Codes. For proof of residency, ID and current mail must be brought on each visit.
