Four Seasons of Community Support.

St. Augustine Wellston Center's annual events bring together neighbors, volunteers, donors, and partners to provide for our member families within the Wellston community.

SUMMER

Backpack & BBQ Block Party

The Wellston Center launched its Summer Backpack & BBQ in 2026 as a new annual tradition for local families. Created to connect neighborhood residents with the Center, support the Backpack Program, and introduce families to helpful community partners, the event brings everyone together in a welcoming, family-friendly setting. The first Backpack & BBQ featured burgers, hot dogs, and fun entertainment for all, along with support from the League of Women Voters, the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, SWIM ON, and Head Start STL. As the event grows each year, its purpose remains the same: to build relationships, connect families with resources, and celebrate the Wellston community.

AUTUMN

Gala Night

Each fall, the Wellston Center brings supporters together for its signature Gala Event, an evening of food, entertainment, and giving in support of the Center’s mission. The event takes on a new theme each year, with 2025’s Food as Art gala featuring professional private chefs who auctioned off personalized dinner experiences and helped the Center reach a record-breaking fundraising total. In 2026, the Center hopes to build on that momentum with Fashion a Future Without Hunger, featuring live and silent auctions, an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and opportunities to make a direct impact on families in the Wellston community. Guests are invited to enjoy a memorable evening while helping the Center continue providing dependable support to those who need it most. Tickets are available here.

WINTER

Christmas Club

In December, the Wellston Center closes the doors of its Thrift Store and transforms the space into our Christmas Club.
For two joyful days, the Club offers a holiday-store-experience of brand-new, unopened gifts of toys, clothing, and household items, able to be purchased by Food Pantry Member Families at an affordable cost. This allows parents to choose the perfect gifts for their children, share in the pride of giving, and celebrate Christmas with dignity.

Trivia Night

SPRING

Each spring, the Wellston Center welcomes friends and neighbors for an evening of friendly competition at our annual Trivia Night. Guests gather in teams around their own tables, putting their knowledge to the test through rounds of trivia while enjoying a silent auction filled with fun prizes and experiences.

The event offers a chance to connect with others, learn more about the Wellston Center’s work, and support the individuals and families who rely on its services. Every team, bid, and contribution helps turn a fun evening into meaningful support for the community.
